No not really , nothing heavy really

It could be as simple as picking up a pen.

Try a pain killer, like Panadol plus some gentle warmth (ie heated pad or warm hotwater bottle). See if that eases it. That might indicate you have strained a muscle. The pain of that can be agonising but will fade with warmth and rest and painkillers.

You could have put your back out in your sleep...take ibuprofen or any other anti-inflammatory and see how it goes....or if its really bad go to the doctors...I did something similar years ago and the doctor gave me 5 tablets that were so strong that 3 did the trick...and I'd been bent over and unable to stand up (was in the right position to hoover though)

Before putting anything heated on it you need to find out what is causing the pain.
My wife got serious back pain one morning. I dutifully ran out and got some heat pads, pain killers etc. When the doctor finally turned up and the wife explained what we had done he said 'Doesn't your husband like you'.
Heat was only inflaming the problem and we should have been putting ice on.
My sympathies.

i did something to my back a few months ago and was getting agonising twinges to the back and right - even thought it might be my gall bladder as the pain went right under my ribcage but painkillers and anti-inflammatories helped it go in a couple of weeks.

It was awful though - made me cry when it was really bad one night

Go to your docs Nod

Don't be tempted to have a hot bath - you may go into spasm when you try to get out of the bath. It is horrendous!!!!!
Have a hot shower and try to aim the shower head onto your back - it will be like a warming massage.
