Oh Tupps, I'm so very sorry for all that you and his family and friends have been through.

Prior to 9/11 my son who worked in London for the Bank of America and had been given an opportunity to work within the Towers. He declined as he decided to change career but still had many friends in the financial world in London who were often transferred to New York within the Towers.

On the day it happened he made many phone calls to check on his friends, they were all safe as they hadn't transferred to New York but they knew those that had since he'd left and had lost their lives on that day. A couple of weeks later I was shocked to read in our local paper that around 6 had died who either lived or had family in our area, the world seemed very small. Such a tragic day for so many, never forgotten.

Only a few months earlier I had been to his lavish gay wedding... and been up the tower for a drinky poos with him and his fella. Piers was a force of nature.. he was like Alan Carr.. he used to make me howl with laughter.

His Mum emailed his friends to say he had been lost.. and the worst thing was that he wasn't meant to be there at that time that day.

It reminds you how you can be taken in a second

Oh i can't even imagine... It was a cruel twist of fate that must haunt his friends and family. How horrific Crying

This is really random but I will always remember it; Me and my mate Donna had a thing about watching "crossroads" ITV had brought back the soap for the 3rd time! I had missed an episode and it was repeated at lunchtimes the day after. Id just got home from work, the kids were all at Junior School, and I put the telly on, only to see the 2nd plane go into the tower! Eeker For a second, I thought Id put on the wrong channel and was watching a film. Could not believe it. Still think that is the most horrific thing I have ever witnessed. I kid you not; my arms have gone all goose pimply RIGHT NOW just thinking of it. My son remembers coming out into the playground, and me saying to him that "something terrible had happened in America" So, so awful! Frowner Crying Angel

Time stops you being angry and just makes you happy for having known that person. He was a great bloke. I have lovely memories of him. Valentine

Piers was a banker too. That was our joke with him.. him being a banker. Cruel twist of fate. Nothing he or anyone else could have done. I'm just lucky to have known him.

Tupps Hug It's great that you can remember him like that. Such a cruel twist of fate - you just never know what's around the corner eh?

Awwww Hug That's it.. we're fragile lil creatures.. what's now can be taken away very easily.. so if anything it should show us not to sweat the small stuff and live every day in the present.. present meaning 'gift'.

I
also remember some tv news station getting a bollocking for doing that, they were caught out whan someone produced the original footage that the 'cheering' crowds were taken from, a CLEAR example of the WESTERN media deliberately LYING to US about the events of that day.
I also remember the BBC news reporter telling us that building 7 had JUST collapsed, while she is telling us this 'breaking news' building 7 can CLEARLY be seen STILL STANDING over her right shoulder and it didn't collapse for another few minutes, HOW could this happen I wonder? maybe..... the BEEB have a time machine,
Read alot of stuff watched alot of video from both sides of the conspiracy argument,
All I will say is BOTH sides have little or no PROOF that it happened their way, So I dont see why I should blindly believe the 'official' story just because BUSH and his "investigation" TELL us its the truth.

I was just going into my house when my neighbour shouted over to me that a plane had crashed into twin tower in newyork i went and turned sky news on.

And watched in horror as the news unfolded and the other plane hit as well.

It was unreal disbelief i will never forget it,sky news was the only thing i could watch the entire day and night, and as more and more footage came, and the stories of phone calls it was horrendous, also remember george bush footage reading kids a story

Such a sureal sad tragic day.I cried many times watching it that day

He also spent MORE time tying to stop or delay the inquiry into it than trying to set it up,
the US spent more time and more than twice the money on trying to find out if Clinton got a BJ from Monica than they spent on the worlds worst terrorists atrocity .

I have always wondered why they let the 2nd plane hit, with a 28 minute delay and they knew it was coming. I watched the other night and they all seemed helpless, it was heartbreaking. My son watched for the first time and he asked why no helicopters with tanks of water like they do in Australia with bushfires, i didnt know what to say to him, except that the amount of avaition fuel it probably wouldnt make much difference

Yeah i watched most of it.. really makes you think. What really got me thinking was the 'puts' that appeared on American Airlines in the days BEFORE the attacks.. bizarre. I also don't believe that a plane went into the pentagon..but where DID that missing plane go?? Cleveland they say but if that's true what happened to everyone on it? Government killed them??

I was on the school run in the car when Chris Moyles said 'A plane has hot the twin towers. We don't have any more details yet so we'll just keep going for the moment' and I instantly assumed they meant it was a light aircraft or something.

However, I turned on my TV as soon as I walked through the door and the second plane had just hit. I phoned up DH and at one point said 'You can almost feel the global politics being rocked to their foundations. This is an earth-changing moment'. I watched both towers go down and I remember the DH was getting news from me and also the fiancee of his deputy had managed to attach himself to a spine on the internet so the web was still working for him.

It was a horrible day and a horrible feeling all round.

I took my son to nursery and when I got back it was on the news about a plane hitting the tower, I sat glued to it and saw the other plane hit. That's when we knew it was a terror attack. I went to pick up my son and when I got back one tower had gone. Every one was in shock for day's I remember. I work in a pub and a few weeks later when they went after the taliban in retaliation, everyone in the pub stopped what they were doing and gathered round the tv. I remember everyone was saying things would never going to be the same again in the world. And they haven't been have they?
