Temps. They have changed ther system for booking a Smear since Sept 1st. You have to register online or ring the HSE and book an appointment.
Your GP can't do it otherwise anymore.
A friend of mine went for hers on Monday and was sent home again by the GP. She was on MWR this morning talking about it. She was told she needed an 'invitation'.

Get outta here Tayto Eeker Jeees the HSE just get bloomin worse Mad

Anyhow, I had no intention of going to my GP, he's lovely and all, but I just couldn't Laugh I used to go the Family Planning places and get it done there.

After I had Finn when he first mentioned a smear, he said we'll have to do it next time you're here. Whatever the look on my face was he said, or we can just get one of the nurses to do it Laugh

I told him I'd get it sorted, but just haven't got round to it.

You watch them when you do Temps... I went to the family planning clinic for a smear (cos they kept sending me letters) after I had my son.... whilst she was 'up there' she asked if I had thought about methods of contraception.... 10 seconds later she had fitted me with a coil!!!

I felt as though they were trying to stop me from prolifically breeding or something!! Laugh

I've jumped in mid post which I never normally do , I will go back and read every post. My youngest son is 19, I never went back for my 6 week internal after he was born and haven't had a smear done since. I can't be bothered explaining, but I just shut up like a virgin, I have a mental block, I get letters every year and I throw them away. Simply I just can't. Ninja

Blizzie they will need to knock me out with a hammer. It's a long story, but it goes back to me being pregnant with my 1st child who is 9 1/2 years older than his brother. I was under the London Hospital Whitechapel, I had a consultant, they all knew I was 'Neurotic' My consultant was ill and missed my appt. A junior female c**t doctor attended and thought it was a big effing joke to do my internal with 19 students watching. I was asleep when my 2nd son was conceived or I would never have had him. Love him to pieces though.Big Grin

I'm similar. I have had one smear test. That was after one of my daughters was born, I can't remember which, so it will be at least 34 years ago. It came back as showing abnormal cells. I never did anything about it. When the letters arrive asking me to have smear tests I just tear them up and bin them. The letters seem to have finally stopped arriving, I can't recall seeing one for about 12 months.

I have my reasons for refusing but I will not even think about it let alone discuss the reasons.

Laugh Wish I'd thought of that last week when I was having mine done. The bloody nurse was all good intentioned and trying to put me at ease cos I kept holding my breath so she was explaining every single thing she was doing "I'm just going to widen the vagina....I'm widening it now....I'm looking at the cervix....it's winking at me....I'm just going to scrape some cells...."

I was lying there thinking "just shut up and do it woman, I don't want a running commentary, I want to lie here and pretend none of this is happening okay!"
