No, but I do have B12 injections for 'pernicious anaemia' which is also a red injections as it's considered a ('red injection' it makes you flushed and hot for a few minutes as it goes into a certain vein/muscle or something).
If like B12 - they are a 'thicker' substance but it only stings momentarily and you will feel a tender spot for a while later.

Injections use needles that are so fine these days LGS I'm sure she'll be fine - my eldest son is like your Mum, he'd faint on the spot - but just distract her and tell her not to look and hopefully it'll be over asap, anticipation is the worst - the effects of the injection far outweighs putting up with the symptoms she needs it for - just be with her if you can, hope she's OK LGS.
I have had iron injections but that was years ago I thought they stopped giving them,I do get B12 injection once a month, I dont like needles but it does not hurt its just the thought of it good luck
It is the thought of the needle that puts me off the nurse always hides it behind her back so I cant see it lol your mum would be better not to look at the needle, I feel for your mum hold her hand she will feel betterquote:Originally posted by love greek sunsets:

I don't mind injections as long as I don't look that's all - I wish I had my B12 on a monthly or bi-monthly basis - I'm gagging and my tongue is so dry and I'm tired after about 6 weeks. Apparently I was born with it as my count was so low but they only give me 3 monthly injections - I really feel I could do with the injection earlier ( I sound like a junkie, but you know what I mean by the symptoms Margeurita).
Hi gma I have read somewhere on the internet there was a study done by a consultant and he said after four weeks the affects of the injection starts warying off and it is better to have them monthly,my consultant said I could have three every three months or one a month I opted for the one a month,by the end of the month I can tell I need another one I had mine yesterday, I am sure if you ask your doctor he will do it monthly I am sure you will feel much better good luckquote:Originally posted by gma:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:It is the thought of the needle that puts me off the nurse always hides it behind her back so I cant see it lol your mum would be better not to look at the needle, I feel for your mum hold her hand she will feel betterquote:Originally posted by love greek sunsets:

never knew such a thing existed - i am always fobbed off with the tiny white tablets
I forgot to mention I also take two of the B12 tablets every day..Cyanocobalamin perhaps they would also help youquote:Originally posted by Marguerita:Hi gma I have read somewhere on the internet there was a study done by a consultant and he said after four weeks the affects of the injection starts warying off and it is better to have them monthly,my consultant said I could have three every three months or one a month I opted for the one a month,by the end of the month I can tell I need another one I had mine yesterday, I am sure if you ask your doctor he will do it monthly I am sure you will feel much better good luckquote:Originally posted by gma:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:It is the thought of the needle that puts me off the nurse always hides it behind her back so I cant see it lol your mum would be better not to look at the needle, I feel for your mum hold her hand she will feel betterquote:Originally posted by love greek sunsets:

Sorry for they delay in replying, I was re-lining some of my kitchen cupboards. I did mention to him, my doc in the past but their tight at my surgery and they will only prescribe them 3 monthly - it is a struggle after a month 6 weeks as you say. I'll try again when I need to see him but I'll ask the nurse too (although she won't be able to give the go-ahead I know) next injection is 26 th October, my tongue is starting to dry at night now!
I can't take the tablets as well as I don't have the intrinsic factor to convert them so they'd just pass out of my system.
Hi again gma I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time perhaps if you went back to your doctor and told him after four weeks you start to feel bad again three months is to long to have to wait when you are feeling ill, I get the tablets but have been told they dont work for everyone but I still take them in the hope they may help, please let me know if your doctor changes his mind keeping everything crossed for you good luck

Thanks Marguerita, I will ask for sure - and I'll let you know; I wouldn't mind bi-monthly but 3 is a long time imo. I take multi-vits and magnesium, iron and folic acid (at my own expense) I guess the b12 bit of the multi vits is void! I will let you knw, it may be a week or so tho'.
they don't really hurt, but they do stain the skin. So make sure where they put the needle is well rubbed afterwardsquote:Originally posted by love greek sunsets:

Same here Marge I got Iron injections years ago on numerous occasions but I thought they had stopped now.I've now got pernicious anaemia
and get b12 injections. I get very tired the week before injection is due

Me too.
I don't like 'em, but they're a necessary evil.

My GP wants me to have B12 injections as I'm anaemic. I had to have a blood transfusion 2 years ago because my count got so low I collapsed and then they managed it with ferrous tablets 3 times a day but this isn't working any more
I don't like needles either but they are a necessary evil

I have b12 injections,The last hurt like hell. However I think there must have been a burr in the needle, they always sting.Iron injections are not so stingy.

Iron supplement tablets give you black poo. That's my insight for today.
