I'm hoping to buy a Wii for my kids for xmas, but have no idea what games to get. Their ages range from 21 to 14, any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Well they have a PS3 and all the fighting games and foota stuff, so would it be worth it? sounds very similar.
You can get some pretty cheap compilation games that everyone can join in,"Carnival funfair games" and "World record games".Space hopper racing etc ..great fun for everyone to play especially when a bit pissed.
You can also
get the shoot 'em up stuff for single players etc.
E-bay is good for games.

if any of them like golf, get them "Tiger woods PGA tour" its really good, also you can get the classics e.g. mario karts
thank you katty, hoobs and jd, I'm away now, but the Wii Fit and Sports thingy's sound good
Oh and you have to buy extra hand held contollers for multi- player games,oh then there is "Guitar hero" you have to buy the guiter etc for that.Younger ones love it,but it bores me to tears.
essential purchase - charging station with rechargable batteries
Will save you a fortune in the long run

May I again draw your attention to the Geordie scientist who has taken an Wii game and attached an I-Pod nano, and called it a Why-aye.

Unfortunately, so do millions of other 'non-gamers'. I've been playing Nintendo all my life and its annoying to see so much tosh out selling the great games

Pussycatj, do you mind if I ask a question in your thread, it's games console related so not much point in starting another?
Ah, she's not here, I hope she doesn't mind if I hijack the thread...
Mr Devil has an xbox 360, bog standard I believe He only uuses it for gaming, storing music & playing DVDs...but it's kerput!!!
He mumbled something about getting a new one, though he said he could put his memory thing (or something) onto the new one, therefore doesn't need the whole thing??? Does this make sense to anyone???? Confused.com!

Of course in my day we played out. At this time of year we would be out collecting fruit for our Mums to make jellies and jams, climbing trees, or playing football. Jumpers for goalposts etc. etc. drone.

All he needs is to buy and Xbox 360 ARCADE. That way he can use his old hard drive on it. There a 3 types of Xbox 360, the ARCADE is the cheapest.

Thankyou Rawky, it's all mumbo jumbo to me...this Arcade thing, where would I get one from and how much would it cost? Trying to get organised for Christmas...
Oh, and would his hard drive fit onto any of them? I don't want to buy the whole thing if he's going to use his old hard drive anyway???

BOOM BABY: http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/web..._arcade_console_pack
Although, it says its out of stock, bad times
His hard drive should fit onto it. Best go into a game shop and ask them though. I'm 95% sure it does fit onto the ARCADE.
we've had two Wii's-they both got nicked
but we had the party type games, the carnival/fairground one and beach sports, a boxing game, after the first time we played that, none of us could move our shoulders properly the next morning
anyway, id say the compilation games are the best-you get more for your money and the whole family can have a go

Don't worry about it, I don't really like going in those shops either. I may be a gamer but I have the decency of washing and socialising outside of games.
Just try to be as quick as possible or the B.O smells will get ya!

Totally agree, a must have cos we were forever changing the batteries. My kids love mario kart (esp playing over wi-fi) mario galaxy and sports resort is brilliant. definately get an extra wii remote too and an extra nunchuk. Oh and I love wii fit!
super mario brothers wii is due out at christmas too and that looks great
quote:,"Carnival funfair games"
We got that for a tenner a few months back,
great fun, all the old fashioned arcade games.

Lol I did go into Game, once...they tried to confuse me with some technical jargon so I scarpered!

As they have a PS3 I would recommend staying away from the more party type games and getting stuff like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros and others that have been mentioned. If they like football games then it's worth looking at PES 2010 when it comes out in October/November.
If you want a party game, get one of the Rayman Raving Rabbids games or Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, as they are actually somewhat enjoyable.
You might as well get Wii Play also, because you get an extra controller with it.
guitar hero is great i love it.
and mario kart.
bowling game can be ok as a family game.
carnival games me mum and sis got bored with.

great list but avoid madworld its really boring and gets so repetitive, you could add .....
disaster : day of crisis
metroid prime trilogy
super mario galaxy 2
pikmin new play control
resident evil 4
tiger woods 2010 (with motionplus)
mario & sonic at the olympics (and winter olympics)
red steel 2
both the motionplus tennis games are pretty good too.
not all are out yet but they will all be by xmas
I love Mario Kart Wii, racing online is loads of fun!
Check out this game, it's unlike any other I've played, it sounds dull but it really isn't:

Thanks to everyone that has replied, been very helpful
Well each to their own,I'm not a gamer so don't like platform games( no patience) , or hunt and shoot 'em crap. The last game I liked was Crash bandicoot on PS1 "Crash team racing"!
The Wii is good fun,I like my daft stuff on it,my niece and her fiance play "Manhunter" and gorefest stuff at times,to me that's boring and pointless.
Why not smash watermelons with your head etc instead!

I bought one at the weekend! I love it. I'm using it mainly to aid weight loss so have bought the Wii Fit and it's great!
