just because i know of a few folk who embraced the thought of a week off work with an excuse - i hate being off and i hate taking medicine ..but i've taken their advice (and the advice of some on here too, thank you) and my BF is collecting my tablets as we speak

I'm really glad you are going to take them. Thumbs Up
I wasn't trying to be nasty but my brother tried to ignore the advice of NHS Direct and ended up with pneumonia! Eeker I hope you are feeling a lot better very soon.
I'm all for not sinking into a decline and being a hypochondriac but you have to consider that if you are tempted to "be brave" and go out and about with flu you risk the health and indeed the lives of people who have an underlying health problem (asthma, heart disease, immune system problems etc) especially as you are planning to fly very soon.

MM I've had it a couple of months ago and I took Tamiflu. The severe symptoms went within 2 days, but it did knock me out for 2 weeks. The side effects weren't very pleasant either, but I agree that it is really just 'flu. Take the allowed dose of paracetamol to get your temperature down, drink water regularly, send your 'flu buddy to pick it up and then make the decision whether to take it or not tomorrow. Hug

Glad to see you've got the tamiflu, I had to have them earlier this summer and they do help, all I can suggest, having had swine flu, is what everyone else is suggesting, lots of bed/settee rest, whereever you are comfortable, I couldn't manage the stairs inmy house so spent a week on the settee all wrapped up, keep warm but have a window open somewhere for fresh air, helps to make you feel less stuffy, don't worry if you feel sick or have a tummy upset, it can be a side effect of the Tamiflu, it will go quite quickly and most of all, keep taking as much fluid as you can, preferably water to help flush the bug out of your system.

It will knock you about and you will feel a bit weak afterwards, so get Mr MM to help as much as possible, Mr PB was great when I was ill.

Hope you feel better soon hun xx

Thanks PinkBabe - i've been blessed with a softie for a BF it seems, he rushed here from about 30miles away to get my tamiflu, sat outside the centre for ages waiting for it to open then came here with all i could need in my sick bed. He's given me a list of films i should watch, made me toast (its all i could stomach) and made me numerous brews... being far from home is never as emotional as when you are sick, i really want my mum (yes i am 30 haha) but he's a decent and welcome 2nd best!

Not feeling the effects of it yet after my 1st tablet, when did you start feeling better?
