They've told me I need to go on a 'special diet' for two days, then need to be off work the the day I take the laxative, day of procedure and the day after. I'm liking the suggestion of 'cheap colonic irrigation' Laugh Hey by the time they do this and remove the ruddy great ovarian cysts I've got I'm hoping to go down a dress size Laugh

Hug

I wish someone had told me Laugh Mine just came in the post Picolax and all! I didnt even open the box to read the instructions... my own fault Frowner

My 2 mates just turned up and brought me baby wet wipes and E45 cream Laugh

My results didn't come through immediately. Bits and bobs were taken for analysis ...........it was three weeks later at the consultation that I got the low down.

I dont think the Colonoscopy operators are qualified in diagnosis .........they just carry out the procedure.

Depends on the hospital I suppose, when I went for my pre procedure chat yesterday nurse told me that there would be a consultant who would tell me any findings.
Anyways, interested as to how Kazzy got on Hug

The consultant surgeon told me immediately after he had finished that I didn't have cancer or anything else to worry about. Perhaps it was just as well he did as I only just got letters from my GP and consultant physician this week giving me the results, 6 weeks later!

I know that my hospital are really, really running a backlog in the endoscopy department. Nurses can take a course which enables them to carry out the procedure .....they are not qualified to diagnose - they just tell you the bare minimum.

I had polyps taken for analysis .........they told me that much .............i suppose if they take no samples it means your all clear.

Where do you live to get preferential treatment? I'll bet money you live down South or in the Home Counties Laugh

I hope everything went well for you today & good luck for Monday too.

I've got all that to go through at the beginning of October. I've already been sent the pack with the Picolax in it. As I don't have a 'resonsible adult' to take me home and stay with me for 24 hours afterwards they are keeping me in overnight. Thanks for the advice guys it will be useful.

On the bright side I have a holiday to Turkey to look forward to first, just 2 weeks to go. Can't wait Big Grin

Live in the North of North Yorkshire Laugh
You?

North East Lincs ................have to say I am happy with my treatment .......could be better but - as far as it goes I've no cause to complain.

I do think that if there had been a problem I'd have been recalled sooner.

Oh and .........................fifty pence probably ..............e/w of course Laugh

Hi guys... Thanks for al your concerns Valentine

It was nowhere near as bad as I imagined yesterday (The picolax day is worse) Wow where does it all come from Laugh

Got to the hospital at 8 was in theatre by 8.30. They gave me sedative but I couldnt have as much as normal because of the treatment I,m having Monday so I was awake throughout but to be honest I cant remember feeling any pain at all.

It was carried out by a consultant who told me they removed polyps for testing but everything looks fine.. very clean... (im not surprised) Laugh and NO cancer!! Clapping

Super dont worry yourself about it I am such a baby when it comes to that area Ninja but honestly it was absolutely fine.

They told me I could eat normally once I left (I slept for about an hour in recovery)

One word of advice.... dont have a curry Ninja

The Picolax is still working its magic Sausage Eeker

I was a little surprised to get a call 3 years later when they wanted to do a follow-up. I don't remember them mentioning it at the time but they like to check if everything is OK. They took away a polyp the first time and wanted to check it hadn't re-grown, so they might recall you. I answered quite happily "Oh I've had that done" but they said "No we need to do a follow-up".
