i've had a few
so i'll tell ya-and this is probably why i forgot my anniversary
i've got my own buisness-its legit-i pay tax, im up to date with EVERYTHING i do etc..
but i do a bit on the side-just selling in bulk-nothing dodgy-not drugs or anything like that Shake Head
so, ive got a bloke, he sells for me, i spent £500 on stuff-i said sell it-it'll make £1500, you take £500-i'll take £1000-cos i paid for it-easy money-£500 profit each!
everyone is happy
i double my money-he gets £500 for a few hours work
he buggered off with the £1500 and ripped my mate off for £200 at the same time-he asked for a loan
at the moment, i (and thousands of others) cant afford to lose money like that-i thought he was a mate
you cant trust no one can ya? Frowner

and now im off to the public house

the round is not on me

Let me just get this right. You and a mate were out to sell some "gear" and split the profits, but neither of you were going to declare it and not pay any tax on it?

And you are complaining you have been ripped off!!!

The Inland Revenue already check out car boot sales around the country for traders so there's usually no need to report people. There are substantial fines for traders who avoid paying tax. The same with ebay traders - they spot potential traders through the feedback count. There are also a number of laws to which traders, even amateur ones, have to comply which normal car boot sellers don't. If you get an unexpected request to fill out a self-assessment tax return one year then you're probably in trouble as the Revenue usually set people up for a fall. Smiler
