Big Grin IckleDitty is next to me on her brother's laptop, with MSN pinging all the time, so I keep getting told what results all her friends got. Ickle and her mates go to the grammar school, which is supposed to be one of the top schools in the country....

...none of them have the results Growly Jnr does!

She's got a fab future ahead of her! Well Done Hug

I think I can probably guess which school Ickle Ditty goes to. Growly Jnr goes to a very similar school in outer London/north Kent. It sounds like everyone's had a great day with their children's results today. Big Grin

People keep telling me that I have a third good thing to happen (first was Mr Ditty's job, second Ickles' results)... if its true... then I would want my third thing to be your current issues... and for it all to be ok! Love you Soops! Hug

I filled right up then. Crying Ditty what a lovely person you are, congrats to your daughter I was thinking about her this morning and I'm so pleased for you both.

How did your lot do?

Unless I am getting my weeks mixed up (which wouldn't surprise me)... didn't you have 50 odd students and some nephews (?) waiting on results today?

If I'm right (and not completely barking!)... how did they get on?

Hi ditty, students did fine, lots of smiles and only a few tears. School A*-C results went up by 5% to 57% which is brilliant for our area so everyone happy.

Niece got A,B and Cs and Nephew got A,Bs and Cs so my facebook going mental with proud family.

So pleased for your daughter I always wanted to go to boarding school, she'll have such a great adventure. And well done to you and Mr Ditty for supporting her. Hug

Hi Barlo

My daughter is doing her G.c.s.e next year

One of them is double award applied I.C.T.

she got a result today but there was no grade

It says this

Raw score 94
Maximum Uniform Mark 100
Uniform Mark 85.70

I know this goes toward her G.c.s.e next year but what grade would that be

She just collected envelope and left as all the kids getting G.c.s.e s were talking to teachers the place was packed.

Thanks Barlo Big Grin

Hi cup,

tbh, I'm not really sure - I haven't been teaching GCSE for the last 2 years (AS and A2 only) but I'd say that she is heading for an A/A*. The 'raw score' is, what she scored; the uniform mark is the maximum available.

She did very, very well!

(ps. If skive can shed any more light on this, please do!!)

Just settled after a hard days work enrolling all the new students after GCSE results day. It was manic, people everywhere, queueing and then more queueing Frowner

Lots of happy faces though, I love seeing all the new students coming in, getting to see who is going to be causing me drama in the coming months Big Grin

Well done all those little FMs who worked so hard Thumbs Up

Well done to all of those that got their results today, and to all the relatives who were equally terrified. I remember how scary it was. Inform them it's no less terrifying in school, college or uni. Ninja

Spoil them all, it's horrible getting through the amount of exams they have to take, not to mention all the time they spend on coursework. Hug

Just got in from taking my daughter, her hubby and the 4 boys out for dinner and it is good to read all these lovely stories about the kids - they have all done so well!

I am ÂĢ157 the poorer (plus the ÂĢ20 I gave my grandson for doing so well) but I wouldn't have missed this day for anything! I have it all again next year with the 15 year old and then again 2 years after that and a year after that! That is not counting all 4 of them when they do their A levels and, hopefully, their degrees. I am so proud to be their grandmother!!

Well done everyone!

I'm just fuming at the moment watching Newsnight, this silly shadow minister saying education is too easy and we're going through yob education, I would love to see him sit an A Level Angry

Why do they do this?? If its a debate that needs to be had.. then schedule a time to have it, and have it properly. Instead of having half arsed digs every year the day the results are out!

IF there is a problem with maintaining year on year standards.... then that has been caused by people at the top.

But by bringing it up, every single time A & GCSE results are released, like a broken record... they shift the criticism onto the kids!

Pisses me off everytime, just when we feel good, they belittle our achievements, success rates get higher, but standards are dropping, what sort of message does this send? Makes us feel so useless, arghhhh politicians! The teachers are forced to teach us to pass exams, yet they say the teachers arent doing well. FFS!

The results of my daughters year were up 11% on previous years (11% better than last year or any previous year)

Not cos they were easier but because they knew they were a brighter year overall....they'd been telling them for a couple of years they expected them to break school records after they did it in Year 9 Sats.

Mind you they are also the year that have had the highest number of expulsions....they had 30 odd which is 10% of the year.
