I think it has to be reinstated whether they deserve it or not.
First there's the legal angle as the contracts Rodrigo drones on about probably contains some reference to prize money and a hugry no win no fee lawyer would love to get stuck into C4 for a slice of 100K.
Secondly people may well not bother to phone in if there's no prize being awarded as a lot of voters feel that they are bestowing the money on the person who deserves/needs it most. I'd say that's a large part of why Rachel, a student teacher, won last year.

You're right. Perhaps though, there could be a clause put into the contract that HM's will lose the right to be awarded the money if they break BB rules?

Mind you, a bit late for this now.

I think it was great on one BB when they reduced the prize money by the second for some misdemeanour, can't remember what it was now. They soon changed their minds Big Grin

They decided that a HM, Kitten, although evicted was going to sit tight. BB reduced the money for every minute she stayed, they couldn't get her out of the house quick enough Big Grin

I am sure the BB lawyers have covered this aspect well before making the announcement.

Make no mistake about it, somewhere in the small print, squeezed in amongst all the legalese, will be the statement 'if any, or all, of the contestants break the rules of the show they will forfeit the prize money'.

Underneath this small print will be a dotted line that the contestant will sign. which will be their agreement to the item within the small print.

True enough, but on this series BB has pretty much torn up its own rule book and any half decent shyster will be able to argue that the HMs were actively encouraged to follow their example.
It's all pretty moot though, as George Lamb intimated on BBLB that they'll be given the opportunity to reinstate it.

hi CM wavey That's true but I cannot see them taking a risk of legal action from seven different contestants and their agents. They are in enough financial difficulty as it is without leaving themselves open for more law suits, and I am sure they have covered every angle. I also think they have every intention of reinstating it anyway ...

But I think that BB are really using it as a ploy to start a mass walk-out or an enormous row, which will expose the real greedy gets who will not want to hang around for nothing. We will see then who is in it for the 'experience' Wink Laugh
