Some of the posts in this thread reminds me of a comment by one of my former foster kids, a teenage girl who had recently arrived in our house.
I had been shopping and had filled up the fruit bowl. She came home from school and asked if her social worker was coming to see her. I asked why she thought this and she said "my mum always puts out a fruit bowl when the social worker is expected.
