A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has pleaded guilty to burglary and animal cruelty for roasting a kitten in a 260C oven.
The New York City Law Department says the girl will spend 18 months in juvenile jail for the May 6 death of the kitten, named Tiger Lily.

Authorities say she and a friend ransacked a Bronx apartment before putting the animal in the oven, where it cried and scratched before dying.

The friend, 17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry, pleaded guilty last month to animal cruelty and attempted burglary.

She is expected to get a year in jail when she's sentenced on September 2.

yip pretty damned awful, but then its exactly the sort of negative SHIT that "the Scum" thrives on,
there must be THOUSANDS of 'nice' positive stories out there stories of human kindness and selflessness stories that would be uplifting and make a person proud to be human,
Do they print those? nah they would much rather search the international news services to bring you THIS kind of shit,
BUT, its what people WANT otherwise they wouldnt keep buying it would they?
ME, I wouldn't wipe my arse on it, I think too much of my 'waste' to get 'the Sun' all over it,
oh and I am very much a cat person

I agree, I can choose not to read a thread I know I will find upsetting but by putting details in the title I can't avoid it.

Please please edit the thread title. Frowner

...Surely now more people will enter the thread thinking it will be an innocent one about a kitten. Before there was a kind of warning and noone had to enter to read the details. It all seems a bit backwards.

see my above post, I've asked for there to be a warning, just not the explicit details, in the thread title.

At least she got 18 months for it. Here, she'd get a fine if that.

Some US States (California being one) have actually legally defined the link between animal abuse and child abuse.
If an authority is called to a home because of animal abuse and children are present, then they have a statutory obligation to inform Child Protection agencies and vice versa.

Quite right too - the link between how people treat their animals and their children is well documented.

We should be doing it here
