Here, in S/Wales, the older generation and dare I say the more 'common' people
(forgive me) used to use the word 'gel' as a term of endearment
or another way of saying 'love' as in "alright love"? Oh gosh it even annoyed me when I was young - you don't tend to hear it so much now and I believe it to be a mutation from Welsh - when in Turkey with my in-laws however, I hear it all the time as 'gel' translations as 'C'mon' or 'come here' etc!
