Can someone explain these words to me.
I`ve looked them up in my dictionaries.
But these words are being used a lot on here (as they usually are at this stage of any BB series.)
But it seems to me they are being used incorrectly or inappropriately.
I have looked for smugness, arrogance etc where I have been advised it exists - but I have not found it.
I was wondering if it means something different to some people.
Can you throw light on this please?

smug adj (smugger, smuggest) arrogantly self-complacent or self-satisfied.

arrogant adj said of someone or their behaviour: aggressively and offensively self-assertive; having or showing too high an opinion of one's own abilities or importance; impudently over-presumptive.

pompous adj 1 solemnly self-important. 2 said of language: inappropriately grand and flowery; pretentious.

idiot noun 1 colloq a foolish or stupid person. 2 non-technical someone who is severely mentally retarded.

I agree with you brisket, these words are being used to describe the opposite of what we are seeing, especially in the case of Freddie.

A smug person is someone who thinks they are above the rest, are self-satisfied, and thinks they are better than the rest. Not Freddie.

An arrogant person is someone who thinks they know best about things, spouting off their opinions as gospel. Thinking they are above the rest and better educated and richer than them. Not Freddie.

A pompous person is one who thinks they are better than the average, pushing their education and wealth in people's faces. Not Freddie.

An idiot is what it says on the tin. Idiots do not gain a degree from Oxford University. Not Freddie.

Not always the dictionary definition, I know, but near enough, eh?

Another good post from you.
I can easily accept that although I may like Freddie, others may not.
But I get baffled when highly inappropriate words are used in the course of their discussions.

I agree with you brisket. I always think that when someone accuses a HM of anything that they will have the courtesy of quoting some instances, some facts, to back up their argument. Without them, it's all just words.

A smug person is someone who thinks they are above the rest, are self-satisfied, and thinks they are better than the rest. Not Freddie.... Laugh Laugh .he was almost cumming in his pants through self satisfaction when lisa was put up for eviction.

An arrogant person is someone who thinks they know best about things, spouting off their opinions as gospel. Thinking they are above the rest and better educated and richer than them. Not Freddie... Laugh Laugh .erm, the singing tasks, he was spouting off.

A pompous person is one who thinks they are better than the average, pushing their education and wealth in people's faces. Not Freddie... Laugh Laugh .erm how many rooms has he repeatedly told the others his mum and dads house has ?

An idiot is what it says on the tin. Idiots do not gain a degree from Oxford University. Not Freddie... Laugh Laugh .he changed his name to halfwit, how idiotic is that.

It is not good etiquette to change someone`s post as if it was something they said.
Much more polite to quote it and then make your comments afterwards.
What you have done is unfair.
Cheers

How very dare you to interfere with my Intellectual Property, you saucy pup. Laugh

It is usual and acceptable on the forum to quote in full cheerio but, as you appear to be a newbie Wink, I will forgive you for your oversight.

Of course, I don't agree with anything you say, nor your appropriately-for-your-opinion placed smilies. However, unless and until you quote my post properly, with replies that are systematically set out and in the proper sequence, I will be unable to reply in the time-honoured fashion of the forum.

When one has to resort to personal references in a post, one has lost the argument.
