Hi Xoch:
I am not a MAC user but I have found this:

"On a Mac, to get a character, such as à, the user must type Option-` and then the vowel. For example, to make à, the user must type Option-` and then 'a', and to make À, the user must type Option-` and then Shift-a."

On Microsoft Word:
CTRL+`(accent grave), then the letter or the LETTER
(It won`t do it on here though. But it does it in Word.)
Regards

ctrl+alt+e=ÃĐ

Doing it the other way you end up with Pat`e...or Pate`

Confused

Thanks leccy! Trying it for size now...

pat
````
Probably. Laugh
When handwriting I'd use ' as a single quote..obviously there is the double "...and I would say that ` is an apostrophe but I don't like the gap when typed.
Xochiquetzal, what if you get a burning desire to make a post about BeyoncÃĐ eating patÃĐ whilst playing PokÃĐmon in a cafÃĐ? Eeker
In the extremely unlikely possibility of this event, I shall simply refrain from telling anyone... for more than keyboard ineptitude reasons! Devil
The accent on patÃĐ is an acute accent, ` that is a grave slopes the other way as in derriÃĻre.
Oh yes, I realise that...I'm talking about keyboard shortcuts though.
The one next to the 1 doesn't put it above it does it to the side. I only know the shortcut for ÃĐ and thought you had to have a language pack or fiddle with settings to get the other one?
Yes, but it looks more like an apostrophe than ` Nod
On the keyboard the apostrophe and the single quote are the same thing,but some people are apparently using the grave accent ` instead of the single quote/apostrophe. '
You're right, and I was the one doing the confusing. Blush
