He stood up for Marcus because he is his friend. It's a pity Marcus did not show Fred the same loyalty way back then, when him and Lisa had the row and Marcus said 'I'm not sticking up for Fred'. But, nevertheless, he did befriend Fred when no one else did during the bullying. As did Siavash. I think Freddie, in addition to being the things I mentioned above, has a very good memory for the bad old days and this is payback time.
