Most of my family are dead and I've never been to a funeral in my life. Mind you, the reactions to that have been quite extreme. I've broken significant taboos, apparently, and upset people because of it by not meeting their expectations. I couldn't not go...too many questions afterwards and that...but yes funerals are for the living...you'd be pretty lucky to benefit from it if you were the one in the coffin
