i tried quite a few times to stop them but every time i checked my emails, there it was......you have 500 new emails......my mistake was unbelievably stupid, after i checked/unchecked the relevant boxes i didn't press the 'update notification settings' tab at the bottom of the page, after i did that it was all ok..............
If it makes you feel any better, you are by no means the only FM to forget to do that. I'm pretty certain it's the main reason why a lot of FMs had problems early-on, and (IMO) why quite a few got so frustrated that they resorted to the "nuclear option".It cannot be stated often enough: when you change your Settings or Notifications, you must press the appropriate "Update Settings" button at the bottom of the page.
