Reply to "emails"

i tried quite a few times to stop them but every time i checked my
emails, there it was......you have 500 new emails......my mistake
was unbelievably stupid, after i checked/unchecked the relevant
boxes i didn't press the 'update notification settings' tab at the
bottom of the page, after i did that it was all ok..............
