Slim, a couple of films during the coming week on the Talking Pictures tv channel.

On Wednesday at 10.00 am is "The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes" (1935). Holmes was played by Arthur Wontner who made five Holmes films before Basil Rathbone became Holmes. The British actor (not the creator of James Bond) Ian Fleming played the part of Dr Watson - his Watson is more serious than the Nigel Bruce one.
The film is more stagey than the Rathbone ones.

On Friday at 3.05 in the morning is "The Miracle of the Bells" (1948). It's a serious film about a press agent Fred MacMurray who represents an actress Alida Valli who only made one film. He's trying to get that film promoted in the States by asking the local churches to ring their bells for 3 days. It's a straight drama and is worth watching.
Possibly the best scene is where MacMurray and Valli go for a Christmas Eve meal in a Chinese restaurant which apparently was not rehearsed./
The film which had been made was a version of "Joan of Arc" Valli looks slightly like Ingrid Bergman whose film "Joan of Arc" was released later that year.

Thank you El

I'll record them
