I wouldn't mind so much if there were decent alternatives for those of us that don't enjoy watching sport, but most of what they show is just trashIMO
An indication of how the BBC has declined is the amount of drama on BBC One in the lunchtime slot from Mondays to Fridays. There was the time where "Doctors" (30 minutes) was shown each day followed by various dramas (typically 40 minutes).
Then the 40 minute dramas were restricted to just Fridays, "Doctors" not shown on Fridays, and by the end of the year "Doctors" will be no more."Doctors" used to be a lot better than it is now and was important in providing an outlet for writers. It has serious implications for drama writers in this country.
So 350 minutes per week cut down to 40 minutes.
