Hoping that my three favourite players, Gasquet, Goffin and Wawrinka will do well this year. Novak off to a flyer, beating the Briton, JamesWard, in straight sets

Just when you thought Clinton and Trump had it in the bag, Bernie and Cruz get up off the canvas and back into the fray I used to have some idea of how the elections worked in the US (thanks mainly to The West Wing) but it's all getting rather confusing. I'm pleased that Bernie is still hanging in there, though

I don't know if anyone would be interested in this programme, (BBC2).  Based on the book\film Best Exotic Marigold Hotel it features 8 aging (and fairly famous) Britons who take up residence in a hotel in India to see whether or not they could cope with retiring there.   Miriam Margolyes looks as though she will be a bit of a laugh.   It's a bit like CBB, only with celebrities.

Brilliant episode tonight (first of four this week). Poor old Martin drawing the short straw again.  Camping out in the Cairngorms in a flimsy looking tent whilst Chris and Michaela are tucked up in a cosy looking lounge in front of a roaring fire

Anybody else tune in to this last night?    Martin Beck is a Swedish detective from a series of books written in the 1960's (I think). He was recently played by Steven Mackintosh in a set of plays on Radio 4 and jolly good it was, too. ...

Another wonderful match yesterday.   I've really loved these early summer encounters with the New Zealanders.  The two test matches were great;  the one-dayers have been terrific fun and all played with great spirit on both sides....

On the election front, I read that the former Middle East Peace Envoy has entered the fray.    If that doesn't scupper Ed's chances then nothing will

If he wasn’t peed off enough at being disturbed, dug up and poked about with 500 years after suffering the indignities of his defeat in battle, to add insult to injury they are going to be wheeling him past Bosworth Field, scene of said defeat, tomorrow.

Starts tonight on BBC1 at 8.00pm.  Joanna Lumley, Dame Edna and Jennifer Saunders competing.  Should be some chuckles to be had.

We have a couple of films that we like to watch over the festive season.  My favourites are:   'In the Bleak Mid-winter' which is a tale about an out-of-work actor (Michael Maloney) who, over the Christmas period,  puts on a production...

What will their punishment consist of?   Slap on the wrist, a spell on the naughty step and then a massive bonus to soothe their hurt feelings because they've been rumbled (again)   http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30016007

So, Route B it is then.   Think I may switch off for a couple of weeks as I can't put up with stereo wailing from Ruth and Jill.   One can only hope that they sell Brookfield and move north before the Ambridge spring does its...

It would appear that the identity of Jack the Ripper has finally been revealed thanks to a DNA test carried out on a shawl belonging to one of the victims, Catherine Eddowes.    I remain sceptical about it, not least because that shawl looks...

England have beaten India in the final Test Match by an innings and 244 runs to win the series 3:1.  Jolly well done, chaps!

England cricket team doing rather well (at the time of going to press).  It may still go pear-shaped but it's jolly exciting at the moment.

It's back for another series on Radio Four at 6.30 on Tuesday evenings.  It's a spoof radio phone-in show by Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson and is jolly funny.   When it was first broadcast the BBC hadn't advertised it as being a spoof...

Our stone-age tv set looked to have given up the ghost and so, on our shopping trip to town, we tottered into the local television/radio emporium to see what they had on offer. On first entering the shop we thought we had mistakenly stumbled into one of those multi-screen cinemas, so vast were the monstrosities they had on display. We decided to look elsewhere and made to leave the shop but, before we could make good our escape, we found our route barred by the shop proprietor who asked if...
